About Bebop

I'm an independent game developer born in August 1994. I first got involved with game development when I was 12 years old. I now have years of experience and have been working on my own games; with the help of friends and relatives.

9Blade: Shogen *Update*

I’ve added a lot since I originally announced I was working on this game, but it’s still not very far into development at all. So be aware that a lot of the things I’m about to show you may or may not be final.
A lot of the graphics may very likely be changed, and the main character (the bald man in the white clothes) will most definitely not continue looking so plain.

Here are some screenshots:

Well, there you have it. That’s how it’s coming along so far. I’m unsure of when I’ll announce another update.
And so the progress continues.

9Blade: Shogen

Phew!
It sure has been a while since I’ve posted here (that’s because I went through a lazy phase).

I’m back, with a new game in progresss.
No, I didn’t quit Relix, it’s still on hold, don’t worry. I’m positive I’ll work on Relix again eventually.

This new game is called “9Blade: Shogen”, and so far I’ve been doing swell with making the engine.
The character is nothing but a green cube at the moment, I haven’t gotten around to actually spriting a real character yet.
No screenshots yet, I’m not ready to release anything like that as none of the visuals are final.

This game will be: platformer/adventure/RPG/exploration.

So far I’ve got this done:

  1. Four different Inventories: USE, EQUIP, SKILL, SPECIAL
  2. Polished pause screen
  3. The ability to eat/drink USE items
  4. Smooth player movement
  5. Health, Mana, and Energy points (they have no actual effect on the player yet)
  6. The ability to walk up or down slopes

And that’s basically it so far. It may not sound like much but I’ve spent a good while working on it all.

Things I intend to add next:

  1. Three save files (with customizable color scheme and file name)
  2. Physical attacks
  3. The ability to equip/withdraw weapons
  4. The ability to equip/withdraw stat boosting under-armor
  5. The ability to equip/withdraw skill items
(this will allow the player to do certain things that he wouldn’t normally be able to do; walljump; multi-jump; etc.)
  6. Uh… Other stuff

Screenshots will be up whenever I feel satisfied with the majority of the graphics.
Thank you to all who visit my website.

P.S.
This game will be freeware, but I will be accepting donations upon its full release if anyone feels like supporting me and making me a happy camper.

P.S. P.S.
Why did I say happy camper. That just sounds stupid.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.

**EDIT: 12:12 AM, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH***

Progress has been going fairly smooth. I’ve gotten much done since I originally posted this, but I’ve scrapped a few of my old features and refurbished them which took some time (days, and still some more to come)

Expect an update with screenshots and information around Thanksgiving time.

Relix (Work in progress) Update 5

Well, I’m going to put this project on hold for a while. No, I’m not quitting, I’ll be back to it eventually, I haven’t felt like working on it too much lately because it hasn’t turned out to be the way I wanted it to, I didn’t plan out the gameplay as much as I should’ve before I started the project, and as it stands right now I don’t have a very good feeling about it.

Here are some screenshots as it is right now:

I hope no one was looking forward to playing it anytime soon. I apologize if that’s the case.

Relix (Work in progress) Update 4

Progress has been speeding up some more!
Addictive games have been… addictive, which resulted in me hardly working on Relix at all.
I don’t always feel like it coding, but I’m positive I’ll never just leave this project behind and start a new one, I’ve had this one planned for too long and I haven’t encountered any coding complications yet.

ANYWAYS
The Pause screen has been greatly changed since I last wrote about it (selections and options have been added to it), and I fixed a few more known glitches (still got a few more known glitches I’ll be fixing soon).

I plan on redesigning Felix (the eyeball/robot guy) soon.

New screenshots will be coming once I change the file select screen and add a title screen and do a few other things.
I have a good feeling about the rest of this week!

Relix (Work in progress) Update 3

Progress has slowed down, I will no longer be updating every Sunday until I’ve either sped up production or I’ve had a decent amount of updates.

Things I added this week:

  1. Player knockback
  2. Pause screen
  3. Encryption on save files
  4. Player now has a way of telling whether he/she is invincible or not

Yeah. Not much, and no screenshots this week.

Relix (Work in progress) Update 2

Been a long week, although I was a little bit lazy on the last few days, so progress didn’t go as fast as it could’ve.

Anyway here are the updates!

  1. Saving and loading system!
  2. Enemies!
  3. Slopes!
  4. Sky house which holds all of your items for you, you can transport to there at any time by pressing X!
  5. New coins!
  6. Experience/Level up system!
  7. Improved Heads Up Display!
  8. Playtime added!
  9. New Weapon!
  10. Added some sounds! (Still working on adding more)
  11. Added a “Game Over” type screen!
  12. Polished old features! (Added transitions, fixed all currently known bugs)

Now for the screenshots:

We’ll see how this new week goes, I’m hoping as good as this past one.

Relix (Work in Progress) Update

It’s been a long few days for me.
I’ve added a few new things to Relix:

  1. Weapons!
  2. New pots!
  3. New coins!
  4. Health and regenerating MP!
  5. Chances to get “Lucky”!
  6. A few secrets I will not reveil!

Here are some pictures displaying the changes (click for full size):
Sword swinging

Obtaining new item!

Breaking pots in the weapon shack

Lucky!

Obviously there is still a lot more to be done. I need to add my story (written 2 years ago, along with most of my gameplay ideas).

This will (most likely) be my first official Indie Game. I’m looking forward to this next week.

***
I will update the wordpress with info on Relix every Sunday or Monday!

Bebop and Friends

Me:

Hello, I am Bebop.

I am an Indie Game Developer.

Currently I use Game Maker to work on my game(s).

Mainly what I love to do is program and pump-iron. I do both of those on every regular day of my life.

I also make graphics, compose some music, and write stories.

I have made example games for Trollsplatterer’s Website.

I am a member of YoYo Games.

I am a member of Game Jolt.

My Friends:

MelodiousRefractions  (Shawn):

Shawn is a music composer and indie game developer, him and I are great friends, and we both share most of the same interests, so I can see us being friends for a long time. He’s creative, artistic, and good at what he does. I respect Shawn and I’m confident him and I will get somewhere as Indie Game Developers. Special thanks to him will be given in all of my future games (Maybe credit for music too if he had a part in it!).

Peter Van Dyck :

Peter is a computer programmer who has made many examples and tutorials for his website.

If I ever get somewhere with my work, I will be sure to spread the name of his website, so everyone who is interested in learning Game Maker can appreciate the work he put into those examples and tutorials he has created.

Relix (Work in Progress)

I’m working on a  2D Platformer/Adventure/Hack ‘n’ Slash game called Relix
This will be hopefully be my first complete game ever, everything I’ve done in the past has either been an example game, tutorial game, test game, or abandoned project (Maybe I’ll give out a .zip containing every gmk I’ve ever made someday, minus a few that I’d rather not give out.)

It’s in VERY early stages right now but here are a few screenshots:
(Standing outside of the building)

(Walking into the building)

(Breaking pots!)

Anyway, I’d rather not write too much information about this game at the time, I still have a lot to do before I make any promises.
